Hebrews 10:19-39

Posted by: admin   in Hebrews

In this portion My Spirit is speaking through My servant to My people who happen to be in very trying circumstances.  And they are encouraged to persevere and to remain faithful even when they are tempted to give up and to turn back to those ways which are a mere shadow of the reality that I have given to them through My Son.  To some extent, though the circumstances may differ, this is also the experience of every true believer. There are times when you and all those who are truly Mine are severely tested, and they are tempted to give up and to turn back, to say in their hearts, it is too much, the price is too great, and you would prefer to embrace what the world offers as comfort and release.  But I want you to see from this portion what I have declared is a sure foundation upon which you may depend, and by which you may persevere.  In all of these there is one firm declaration about Me.  That is indeed the sure foundation that you can depend upon in order to persevere, and that foundation is that I am faithful.  I am who I have revealed Myself to be.  I will do what I have promised to do.  And if you will depend upon this, you will most assuredly persevere, no matter how severe your trial may be.  This is expressed first of all in that I have made a way for you to enter into My holy presence.  This is no longer manifested in an earthly tent or temple.  But that holy presence is represented in My Son, and He has become both a sacrifice and High Priest so that you may be cleansed from sin and be sustained by faith in that new life which you have been given in Him.  My faithfulness is also expressed in that you are not alone.  You have been placed in a body of those who also have entered into My Holy presence through My Son.  And you see from the words here how important it is to gather together with those who share the life of My Son.  And do you not see that the emphasis here in the gathering is not placed upon worship, although that is very important, nor upon instruction, but upon mutual encouragement and love.  For you see that I also choose to manifest My faithfulness not only to you, but in you and through you to others.  And so you will not only receive the manifestation of My faithfulness through your brothers and sisters, but also you will be enabled to express it to them.  And you can see also as they struggle with the trials that they are reminded what grace and faith they were given in the past, both to stand firm in the face of great trial and to stand with and encourage others who are being tried.  I want you to recognize how important it is to remember and to recall how I have enabled you to stand firm in past trials.  This too is a very important manifestation of My faithfulness.  See that My servant declares that I am the true and righteous judge who will vindicate My righteousness.  And see that godly fear is altogether necessary in order to stand firm, to persevere.  It is also necessary to exercise godly fear, for in such you not only recognize the necessity of trusting My judgment to deal with those who oppose Me and defy My ways, but also that godly fear will be a safeguard against the temptation of your hearts to stray.  Though it declares that I have no delight in those who shrink back, I want you also to recognize that I truly delight in those who persevere in faith.  And you see in what is revealed here that there is a sure foundation to persevere, but will you choose to do so?  Will you depend upon My faithfulness and all that flows from it, or will you choose to shrink back?  The choice is always yours, but I have shown you the sufficient foundation by which you may make that choice in which I delight and by which your own souls are preserved.

Isaiah 46:12-47

Posted by: admin   in Uncategorized

From the human standpoint, from the observations of man, it would seem that everything is in turmoil that the foundations of the whole earth are shaking.  And even those who profess to know Me wonder and cry out, “Where are You?  Don’t You care?  Don’t You see?  Are You not concerned?”  Was it not so among My people in the day spoken of in this portion by My servant Isaiah?  Is it not so that My people, those whom I have called and chosen by My sovereign hand and for My sovereign purpose, are nevertheless stubborn minded and far from righteousness.  Do they not call upon My name?  But is there yet in their hearts a desire to truly yield to Me, to listen and to obey and consider how over and over they are plagued by their enemies?  Consider how arrogant, how proud, how determined those are who seek to destroy My people.  And with what, with what do My people face this threat: with religion, with tradition, with self-righteousness!  If they really would listen, if they really would take heed to My Word, would it continue so?  Would they not come and sit in the dust and cast aside their self-righteousness and their dependence upon the arm of flesh?  But you see in this picture of My judgment upon their enemies that though My people were themselves worthy of judgment, yet because I had set my love upon them, out of that judgment would not come utter destruction, but as it declares here, salvation and the extension of My glory. But for those who have been captured by the spirit of Babylon, for it is not dead, there is no turning away.  They have become altogether drunk, fully enticed, completely given over to that spirit.  And even as I dealt with Babylon of old when it seemed that she was invincible, impregnable, finding security in her sorceries and imbued with a determined hatred for all that is truly of Me, for all that even to a limited degree reflected that they are Mine, so will I deal with the same spirit in it’s modern form.   As suddenly as that judgment came to arrogant, implacable and wicked Babylon, so will it be visited as suddenly and as thoroughly upon those  imbued with that same spirit today.  So do not be despairing concerning the tumult that disturbs, for it presages that sure judgment that you see in this portion and that you will surely see.  I do not ask, I do not require that you rejoice in the judgment.  But I give you these words to encourage you to look beyond the turmoil, beyond the judgment, and then rejoice in that which it will accomplish.

James 2

Posted by: admin   in James

Did not My Son declare that the greatest commandments are to love Me with the whole heart and to love one’s neighbor as he loves himself?  Did He not declare that the law and the prophets are summed up in these two commandments?  But you see that My servant James declares here that the fulfillment of these great commandments is not a matter of mere profession.  It is not enough to declare and acknowledge with the lips that you love Me with the whole heart and that you love your neighbors as yourself.  For you see in this portion how My servant James demonstrates that when you show favor to the rich man and show disfavor to the poor man, that conduct denies both.  I say both that you love Me with your whole heart, and that you love your neighbor as yourself.  And he shows further that such a profession is empty when you disregard the need of the one who is without adequate clothing or food.  Indeed this too is a breaking of the commandment.  This too is sin.  And such failure was not uncommon, even among those who as it says here held faith in My Son.  For if it were not a common failure and a common misconception of what true faith really is there would have been no need for My servant to write these things.  But because it was more than a rare occurrence My Spirit prompted him to address this matter.  And because it remains even until today all too common a failure among those who profess the name of My Son, and because you too have fallen short in this matter, I have brought you again to this portion not only to remind you, but to draw you into that which faith really not only requires but produces.  And have you not wondered why My Spirit prompted My servant James to hold up Abraham and Rahab as examples of those who truly manifested by what they did that they possessed a genuine faith.  For neither one was instructed as you have been and as so many of My servants and My people have been through My Word.  For what did they have that so prompted them to manifest such genuine faith in such extra ordinary circumstances?  Was it not that in each case I simply revealed Myself to Abraham and to Rahab, though the ways in which they experienced that revelation were different.  Yet Abraham heard My voice and believed My Word and acted upon that contrary to all that his background would have confirmed, and even contrary to what his heart might have chosen apart from My revelation.  But could he not, according to man’s ways and reason, have reasoned himself into a different course of action that was contrary to what I told him.  And you know that it is in the record that in the case of the birth of Ishmael he did this very thing.  But it becomes evident that this was contrary to My revelation and contrary to the way of genuine faith.  And is it not remarkable that having been immersed in a life of pagan idolatry and immorality, that nevertheless in ways not recorded in My Word, Rahab came to believe that I am the true God and that Israel was My chosen people.  And that faith, without any more instruction than the mere observation of what I was doing in and through My people, prompted her to believe and to stake her very life and the lives of her family upon that private and hidden revelation that was working in her heart.  And so you see that genuine faith, as My servant James declares here, is born out of revelation that is strong enough to produce the kind of faith that manifests itself in extraordinary works.  So what can you say would be an excuse for falling short of manifesting your faith in the ways that are presented here; ways which demonstrate that you truly love your neighbor as yourself?  And you can be sure that over and over again your profession of faith will be tested and proven out by opportunities and challenges that will come your way.  And as it was with Abraham and Rahab those opportunities may call you to defy the very circumstances that you face by believing and acting upon My Word in such a way that calls you to go against those very circumstances.
