Bible Devotions From II Chronicles 7

Consider all the wonderful things that you read about in this portion.

Consider how Solomon offered such a great prayer and petition before Me.

Consider how the fire was sent from heaven to consume the sacrifices.

Consider how My glory filled the temple so that My people fell in awe before Me and the Priests and the Levites were not able to minister because My glory filled the temple. Consider how I warned Solomon when I appeared to him in the night, how I spoke to him about how judgment would come because of disobedience and how I told him how repentance would turn away that judgment. Consider how I warned him to walk before Me as his father David had walked before Me to do all that I had commanded. Consider how I had warned him that if he turned away and if the people turned away to serve other gods, that I would uproot them from the land and I would reject the temple which I had built through him. Now I want you to see that with all of this, with the prayers, with the fire that came from heaven to consume the sacrifices, with the manifestations of My glory, with the promises and the warnings, yet the hearts of My people and the heart of Solomon himself strayed away from Me. And you know that the judgments that were promised came. I want you to take heed to this and to recognize how easy it is for the heart to stray, for the people to forget all the wonders, for the people to forget even the warnings. Do you not see it today? Not only among My people Israel, but also among those who name the name of My Son. Guard your hearts, My son and My daughter. Guard your hearts and do not forget, so that I may bless you. Have I not told you that My temple is within you? The sacrifices that you are called to offer are the living sacrifices of an obedient heart. And surely I desire to fill My temples with My glory and not to depart and not to judge, but to glorify My name within your hearts as My eternal dwelling place.

Bible Devotions From Isaiah 24,25

How many times have I spoken to you and warned you of the devastation to come? Have I not declared that I would scour the pot but I would not cast it away? You see here how I have spoken of these things from of old. You might say to Me, “But Father though there have been times and places where such devastation has taken place, you are speaking here of the whole earth and not just a limited place”. And I say to you, this word is yet to be fulfilled in the measure that is declared here. Those who will stand in the midst of such devastation will think that there is no hope because everything around them will be utterly destroyed. But if your hearts are not anchored in what is being destroyed, but rather anchored in what I have promised, in that for which the devastation is making a way, then will you not see beyond it to the purpose and the goal that I have of establishing that which truly exalts and glorifies Me. You see how the vision of the prophet takes you beyond the devastation, as awesome as it might be, to the vision of the glory that is to come. And it will be the song of praise that rises in the midst of the devastation, that song which acclaims My majesty, that which the prophet spoke of, that from the ends of the earth singing is heard declaring, “Glory to the righteous one”. So the song of the righteous rises and the song of the ruthless is stilled. And the righteous have been given eyes to see what is lasting, eyes to look beyond the things of earth and hearts that have been set upon that which endures eternally, so that they are the ones who see what is real and lasting and know that for which the devastation is making a way. And they will therefore understand that the awesome things which are taking place are not destroying what is truly precious and the vision that is in their hearts will sustain them. For they know the necessity of removing the things that are being removed so that the way might be made for those things which cannot be removed. Can you not therefore understand why I am calling your hearts to those things which are eternal at this time so that they may be well prepared to see beyond the day of devastation to that day when you will be able to say, “This is our God, we trusted in Him and He saved us, let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation”? In that day it shall no longer be a promise, a hope, a vision and a dream, but a present reality.

But I want to establish that reality in your hearts before that day so that you will surely be sustained in the awesome events that shall come before it.

It declares here that the old covenant came with glory, but it brought death because that which it demanded it was not able to produce. But nevertheless, as it declares here, it came with such a glory that the people could not even look upon the face of Moses because of that glory and yet it was a fading glory. It did not last. It could not produce righteousness, though it proclaimed it and demanded it. What of the new covenant which it declares here is more glorious and unfading? You might ask how in comparison with the old is it more glorious and unfading. It might be reasoned that there are no great outward manifestations as there were with the giving of the old. There was nothing that seemed as spectacular as that which brought awe and fear to the people at the foot of the mountain. Yet with all of that which happened, were their hearts truly changed? Did they walk in faith and obedience as a result? You will remember that they could not endure the glory and their hearts very soon turned away to worship idols so that they were prohibited from entering the land of promise. But what of the new covenant; what is its glory? It declares here that those who receive it reflect My glory and are being transformed into My likeness increasingly and there is the continuing presence of My Spirit and there is the gift of righteousness which results in freedom. So then, rather than a fading glory, there is an ever increasing one. Rather than a veil there is an open face. Rather than condemnation there is justification. Rather than going astray there is the Spirit who produces obedience and faithfulness. Rather than an outward presence that the people could not look upon or endure there is My inward presence by which you are being transformed into My likeness. And that produces the ever increasing glory. I want you to appreciate that the ministry of the Spirit is much more glorious because He achieves within you what the old covenant demanded but could not produce. And also that which is produced does not fade but rather increases, as it declares here, with ever increasing glory. So do not be deceived or intimidated by those who would cling to the old covenant. Though it was given by the ministry of the Spirit, it did not impart that ministry, for that is what the new covenant alone brought to you. If this is so, the greatest manifestation of it’s superiority is seen in it’s power to transform into the likeness of My Son, a likeness that increases in glory as you behold Him.
