In the previous words, which I have given to you from this portion, I emphasize the contrast between My rebellious people Israel and My faithful servant who fulfilled His obedience at great cost. And I emphasized to you how that on the basis of that obedience I could offer to those who would trust in Me redemption, deliverance from both the condition and the consequences of iniquitous transgressions. And I also emphasized the contrast between those who would hear My appeal and My offer to rely upon Me and those who chose to go their own way, or as it declares here to walk in the light of their own fire. So you are, from these words, to understand that there will continue to be those who resist Me and who insist on going their own way. And these are they who remain among the rebellious. But are they not also those who reject, oppose and even attack My servant? And did He not declare that those who truly fear Me and obey the voice of My servant would in like manner experience from the rebellious that same rejection, opposition and ill treatment. And what can be your support if you truly follow Him from the heart? Will it not be that same confidence that He declared as it is expressed here, that I would help Him, that I would be near to Him, that I would justify Him; yes that same confidence that He had in Me as He suffered as a result of His obedience will also be given to you and to all who like Him set their face like a flint to do My will. Not only that, but in addition to opposition, there are times and seasons when it may truly be said that one is surrounded by darkness, when there seems to be no light. Not only because of the opposition of the rebellious, but also because of troublesome circumstances. But surely for those who fear Me and obey the voice of My servant, there is the faith to trust in Me, to rely upon Me, even though it may seem you walk in darkness. For truly, if you consider the full implication of these words, though there may be darkness all around, there will be light within your own soul, not from a fire kindled by yourselves, but from the life that I have placed within you. And is that not truly the light that can overcome all darkness? Can you not understand from these words how the obedience of My servant being imparted to you brings also to you the same triumph, the same victory over everything that may be intended to defeat you and cast you down?

Song: Behold I send you forth before Me to prepare the way, before Me to prepare the way. Even as I sent seventy of old I am sending forth My messengers to prepare the way before Me, for I am coming soon to do all that I have been appointed to do by My Father. I have said many things to this point. And now I am calling you to prepare the way before Me. It is not an easy task upon which I send you. But you need to know that I am with you always, always with you. As you pray, as you proclaim, as you heal, as you give food, as you receive and are being received, I am with you. Remember I am with you. I will not leave nor forsake you. All will not hear and receive, but some will hear and receive. And this will be your work, your full work to prepare the way before Me.
Here My word declares that My Son sent His messengers into the cities two by two. Are you not two? And have I not sent you into this city? And have I not told you of my intention regarding this city? And have I not told you that I have given to you a part in the fulfillment of that intention? Though your circumstances have changed since I spoke to you those words, My intention has not changed, neither concerning this city nor the part that I have given you. And still there is more to unfold than you have seen or understood. But in all of the promises and the commands recorded in this portion that were given by My Son to those He sent out, none failed of fulfillment. And you observe that when the task was completed, both the disciples who returned rejoiced and so did My Son rejoice. And I would encourage you this day and say unto you that you are to walk faithfully in the things that I have told you to do and you are to remember as you walk My promises concerning your protection, your provision, your power and your fruit. And even as those who were sent out came back rejoicing, so shall you rejoice. But in your rejoicing, remember to do so above all other reasons for rejoicing as My Son admonished, because your names are written in heaven. And as you rejoice, so indeed will My Son rejoice and I with you. Remember, even as My Son declared, I have delivered all things into His hands. And He will reveal Me to those who will hear and receive. In this shall be your confidence.

You can see here the testimony of one who had learned not through easy and comfortable circumstances, but through difficulties, that My mercy endures forever. He testifies that he had called upon Me in distress and I had answered him and I had set him in a broad place. Thus he had learned that when he depended upon Me in difficult circumstances that I had worked to bless him, and the result was that he had learned that it was better to trust in Me than in man, even in men of might and high position. Not only had he experienced protection and deliverance, but he had been confirmed in his faith. And though enemies had surrounded him, I had granted him victory over them. And his conclusion was that I had enabled him in the victory; that it was not the result of his own strength, but of Mine. Now you know, according to what My word reveals, that the fullest measure of rejoicing in the tents of the righteous was the result of the victory that I gave to My Son, who though rejected became the chief cornerstone. And you see that the Psalmist recognizes that He is the One through whom salvation is ultimately granted. And because He has come in My name and brought My light and My salvation, it is possible, no matter how difficult your circumstances, to declare as the Psalmist that you will give thanks to Me, being confident that My mercy endures forever. It would be easy to declare such a testimony in comfortable circumstances, but the Psalmist declares these words as the result of experiencing My mercy, My help, My deliverance and My salvation in the midst of exceedingly difficult and threatening circumstances. If I am only to be trusted for good things and comfortable things, and not also for difficult and trying things, then would I be truly a God of all your life? Could it really be declared that I am good and that my mercy endures forever? But if I am the God whose mercy endures and who is always good, then can you not trust Me, even in the most difficult and distressing circumstances? And you see here affirmed that My Son went through the most difficult and trying circumstances of all and came out victorious and giving Me glory. And thus you know, since you have trusted in Him, that it is He who works within you not only to sustain you so that you may endure, but to grant you a share in His victory, so that you may with Him declare, “You are My God and I will praise You; You are My God, I will exalt You. You are good and Your mercy truly endures forever”. Hide these words in your hearts and let them be your light and your confidence in all circumstances.
