I want to speak to you about the strength of My faithfulness in keeping covenant. I want you to understand the length to which I go to be faithful to what I have promised. I want you to see that this battle was won by Me using a very imperfect and relatively unfaithful instrument. I had made My covenant with My son David and I chose to raise up unto David a son who would do good in My sight and who would succeed in the things in which his father had failed. Therefore I gave faith to Abijah to trust Me in a very difficult and extreme situation. I caused his faith to stir faith in the hearts of his men. It wasn’t their numbers, it wasn’t their superior tactics and it wasn’t anything of human endeavor that won the battle. The men of Judah were not more valiant than the men of Israel but I kept faith with My covenant. You notice that I do not reveal how I routed Jeroboam and his army. I am not calling you to know when I will do what I will do.
I am calling you to trust in Me not because your leaders are strong and wise or even because they are faithful. Abijah was confident that I was with them because he had cleaved to the house of David and to the covenant I had made with him. Even though his obedience was far from complete yet I gave victory for the honor of My name. My greater son, the son of David, the king of Israel has cut a covenant with Me. It is not a covenant of salt. It is a covenant of blood, eternal and victorious. By this covenant he is your king. He is not imperfect and his obedience to Me was not partial but full and complete. His conquest is not momentary but lasting.
The odds against Him may seem numerically greater. But if you knew and could see how this battle was really won you would understand, for those who trust Me and rest in My covenant faithfulness would see that the odds are never, no never overwhelming. Do not become disheartened because the men in human leadership seem half-hearted in fulfilling My will. Do not become disheartened as in your own eyes you seem weak and inadequate for the battle. If you choose to fight My battles your trust must be totally in Me. Your confidence must not be in numbers or in any human strength.
If My Son is your king, and you have said that He is, you must remember that He truly is victorious, and what the odds seem to be are never what they really are. If I would be faithful to My covenant in using an imperfect Abijah, would I not be faithful in the covenant I made with My perfect king? So I call you to victory and to confidence in My covenant faithfulness. Remember this when it seems the opposition is too strong and overwhelming.
