Bible Devotions From Psalm 12

Posted by: admin    in Psalm

If the godly were truly to vanish from among men as David My servant perceived, then would My promises be denied and become null and void? Have I not promised to sustain and protect those who are godly? And is it not My purpose that through them My name should be lifted up and be glorified in the earth? So then, in the midst of this strong perception that My servant David had that the godly were being removed and the wicked were being exalted, the correction comes when he is able to hear My word, and he not only sees through My word that I will keep and protect the oppressed and the godly but he understands that I will, in doing this, have to judge those who oppress them and defy Me. And so it is that if your perspective is brought to My word that your despair is overcome, your perspective is lifted above what you merely see, and your confidence in My faithfulness is renewed, if David who is a godly man after My own heart struggled, as you see expressed here, do not be dismayed that you also struggle. If My word was his recourse and support to lift him up and to correct his perception, then shall it not also be yours as well? So then, when you become disheartened and fretful remember what I have declared to you here, and shall you not then be encouraged, strengthened and restored to stand confident in My faithfulness to fulfill what I have promised?

Bible Devotions From I Samuel 1:21-2:11

Posted by: admin    in I Samuel

I want you to notice how that Hannah is truly a woman of prayer. I want you to see that in her extremity she poured out her soul to Me as she declared to Eli, “I have been praying here out of My great anguish and grief”. You see that as she rolled the burden of her soul upon Me she not only received the blessing of the priest but relief from her anguish. It says that she was able to eat and that she was no longer downcast. I want you to see that her prayer, as agonized as it was, was truly a prayer of faith and that the burden of her soul was lifted as a result. She truly believed in Me and in due season I acted and rewarded her faith, and you see that she was faithful in keeping her promise even as I had been faithful to answer her prayer. But look again and see that when she brought Samuel to My house she identified herself as the one who had prayed and asked of Me for a son. So her testimony to Eli was that I had been faithful to grant her her request and that she would now be faithful to keep her promise to give her son to My service. So you see a chain of faithfulness, the prayer of faith to Me, My response in faithfulness and the faithful response to Hannah in keeping her promise. But look again and see the expression of her prayer upon giving up her son. You see that she declares first of all that her heart rejoices in Me, that her strength has come from Me, that her triumph over her enemies and her deliverance is from Me, and she extols My greatness and My holiness, and she acknowledges that her judgment and her blessing have come from Me. She declares how I have lifted up the humble and the needy and judged and set down the proud and the self-sufficient, how that those who trust in Me shall be blessed, and those who oppose Me shall be shattered. Do you see any evidence in these words that Hannah has any regret in her heart about having to give up her son? Do you see any pride or haughtiness about what she has done as if it were some accomplishment for which she is to be commended and rewarded?

No, you see only her rejoicing in who I am, and her confidence in My justice and My judgment, in My reward for those who are needy and who trust Me, and My judgment for those who oppose Me. I want you to see that this prayer reflects a heart that truly desires to please Me, that rejoiced not only in her own blessing but in who I am and in how I relate to My people as well as to those who oppose Me. I have told you that I want to fill My house with daughters like this who will not seek something for themselves but will seek most of all that which will glorify Me. You see in her prayer that kind of heart that will glorify Me, and you see that her reward was great, not only because she was given more children but also because her son, the fruit of her faith as well as her womb, truly glorified Me.

Bible Devotions From John 6:1-40

Posted by: admin    in John

I have one simple lesson to add to what I have already said to you through this portion, but it is a most important lesson. That is that if you seek the bread which endures unto eternal life which My Son gives to you, for He is that true bread, then you will never have to be concerned about whether or not you have sufficient bread to feed your body, for you will know in your hearts that the bread which has satisfied you comes from Me and therefore all other things that you truly need are yours. The great effort of the enemy is to unsettle you to stir up anxiety about whether or not you will have the physical and material things of life that you think you need, and with this anxiety he wishes to unsettle you and to rob you of your confidence and your peace. But if it is truly settled in your heart that I have provided for everything that you need then you will not be unsettled.

As you see here My Son tested His disciples and the basis of their judgment was not upon their confidence in Him but in the apparent insufficiency of their resources. But I am calling you not to judge by what is apparent in the natural realm but by what I have promised in My Son. Remember the word that declares that I will provide all of your needs according to My riches in glory by My Son. This means not only bread and material provision but all things that you need.
